Core Disciplines

Innovative, Practical, Proven Engineering

You are probably aware that not all engineers and engineering companies deliver the same level of engineering expertise. Innovative, practical, and proven engineering begins with skilled and experienced designers, engineers, and support staff working together as a cohesive unit. Our engineers and designers leverage their individual skills and knowledge along with industry recognized software tools and our unique project management approach to deliver positive, successful project outcomes.

We Solve Engineering and Construction Problems.

Identifying the root of challenging problems and solving them requires a breadth of technical competency. Most engineering and construction difficulties involve more than just the most obvious symptom. An issue with a pipe rack for example might require a solution that takes into consideration structural, piping, and electrical engineering aspects. AMG’s service offerings are founded on the six core engineering disciplines that are fundamental to industrial facility design, construction, and operations. The following is a brief introduction to each of our core disciplines.

  • Process Engineering
AMG’s process team, comprised of experienced and skilled chemical engineers supports projects from initial process development and process equipment and component specification and selection to development of process operations narratives. We work closely with our mechanical, piping, and instrumentation groups to ensure that our process designs are complete, robust, and efficient.
  • Mechanical Engineering
Our Mechanical Engineering group supports projects of any size and complexity providing a range of services including industrial building ventilation design, specialized machine and mechanism design, complex thermal stress and finite element analysis, dust collection and aspiration system engineering, and many others, including providing support services to our other core disciplines.
  • Structural Engineering
Our team of structural engineers and designers leverage their “out of the box” creativity to develop and implement cost effective, intuitive, robust solutions for structural challenges. From reinforcing an existing building column, to designing the foundations and steel for a multi story heavy industrial processing building, we have the skill set, knowledge base, and experience to fill your structural needs, large or small.
  • Piping Design and Engineering
Whether your project involves aseptic, sanitary, high pressure, steam and utilities, or general process piping, AMG’s designers and engineers have the knowledge and experience to engineer and design robust and cost effective piping systems from simple, straight forward applications to the most complex and demanding. Our extensive experience includes pipe material specifications from PVC and carbon to stainless steels and alloys such as super duplex and Hasteloy, even Teflon and glass lined piping. Our 3D design tools and stress analysis software allow us to resolve the most difficult pipe stress and support conditions. AMG has the experience and knowledge to handle your industrial piping project needs.
  • Electrical Engineering
Nearly every industrial facility modification, expansion, renovation, or new construction requires multiple aspects of electrical engineering and design from incommoding power distribution, motor control, and lighting to convenience and office space electrical to stand by power generation. The design of these systems requires a team familiar with the electrical codes as well as the various components and gear that are available to resolve such concerns as arc flash, in-rush, nuisance trips, etc. Our group has engineered projects ranging from a few motors to systems as large as 500 motors and 54,000 HP. We have the knowledge and tools to perform fault current analysis, load studies, breaker and fuse coordination, arc flash studies, and more.
  • Instrumentation and Controls
AMG’s instrumentation, controls, and automation experience spans the days of relay panels to the present-day distributed control systems and their variations. Our team is well versed in most all control, SCADA, and HMI platforms, communication protocols, and network and bus architectures. We have gained a wide range of device and sensor exposure, knowledge, and experience from our industry and process unit operation history over thousands of projects.

Why AMG?
