AMG, Inc., 25th Anniversary

When Alberto G. Mendez moved from Mexico City to the United States at age 23, he was a young engineer who spoke very little English. Six months later, he had taught himself English and had accepted a job offer in Dayton, Ohio.

In 1973, Mendez and some coworkers started a new company, and he took on the responsibilities of Vice President of Engineering and minority shareholder. He left that company in 1979 to further pursue his ambitions.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Working out of his garage (really!), Mendez founded AMG, Inc., in 1980, and hired two employees. In 1992, AMG, Inc., purchased E&I Controls to expand and serve the markets served by both companies. The merged company has proven financially successful. Today, AMG, Inc., includes seven office locations and is one of the largest Ohio-based engineering companies.

Now in their 25th year, AMG, Inc., is looking to the future. Nearly a decade of 3-D modeling experience combined with six years of design/build experience clearly point to an expanding role for design/build projects. Carefully planned growth into design/build is allowing AMG, Inc., to maintain the same excellent services that have built its solid reputation with clients in a variety of industries.

Based on the dynamic success of the previous quarter-century, AMG, Inc., looks forward to expanding their concept-to-completion approach to engineering services while maintaining the valuable family- business characteristics of their corporate culture.
