Engineering from Concept to Completion

Response to the Marketplace

Entrepreneur of the Year Award
In 1996, AMG, Inc., president Alberto G. Mendez, Sr., was nominated by his company's bankers and accountants for the Montgomery County (Ohio) "Entrepreneur of the Year" Award competition — and won! Then Mr. Mendez was automatically entered into the national competition for Entrepreneur of the Year.
Biotechnology Projects
AMG, Inc., spent its first years servicing industrial clients that process grains to make such products as starch, sugar, syrup, and oil. Success in designing and building such processing plants encouraged AMG, Inc., to expand its goals to include entry into the emerging biological technology (biotech) and pharmaceutical-design market sector.
Transition from Design to Design/Build
Look at the books, magazines, and technical articles on the design/build process and notice how many authors are attorneys. This isn't a quirk. Attorneys often get involved in projects where a single company is responsible for both the design and build aspects of constructing a processing plant. Why? Because hiring a company to perform design/build requires a company that is highly experienced and reputable. Too many clients have found that consolidating the design and build functions with one company can remove some of the healthy check-and-balance that comes from hiring separate design and build companies. Sometimes the choice of one company to do design/build can result in a dissatisfied client and, hence, an attorney's involvement.
